Transform Your Home With Great Art – Part 2
Oct 16 2014Are you considering sprucing up your home for the holidays? Why not start with new art? Follow these easy steps for success:
- Consider your current decor. What is your current style? (i.e. modern, classic, etc.)
- What size do you need to maximize the impact of your art? You may like one large statement piece or a grouping of several smaller pieces.
- Focus on the entire color palate in the room, not one or two colors that may stand out in the room. This may be an opportunity to break-up a repetitive color scheme you may in the room. You want to pick a piece that compliments the room not match the colors in the room.
- Don’t be afraid to take a risk or make an unexpected choice.
- Have fun!
The Art of Chanel Christoff Davis “Sunsets” series of paintings featured at West Elm/Mockingbird Station Dallas
These “Sunsets” paintings make this room shine. I love how they add a pops to the decor. It breaks up the monotony of the wood surfaces. I sort of wish this was in my art studio. Amazing!
I would like to give a special thanks to West Elm for staging my “Sunsets” painting in their Mockingbird Station store, Dallas. The art is so beautiful in these vignettes.

Transform Your Home With Great Art – Part 1
Oct 07 2014What makes a home or space special and well appointed? 400 thread count sheets? Professional chef worthy cookware? All of these things add to the feeling of a well stocked home, but what makes your home shine? Walking into a home with great art, transforms how you experience the space. Carefully curated art is that final touch that can make or break a room. When choosing that special piece, you must consider your decor and the scale of the piece needed to maximize the impact. Color should be another consideration. You should not focus so much on matching the color of your decor, but think more about your entire color palate and enhancing the colors in your decor. For example, blue/gray tones would balance warm woods tones in your cabinetry where as yellows/oranges would further saturate the warmth of the wood. Don’t be afraid to make an unexpected and dramatic expression through your art, go with what inspires you and have fun.

The “Sunsets” paintings above work well with this rooms decor. These paintings accentuate the colors in the pillows while craftily playing off the grey tones in the room. Art can give your home a new life and serve as wonderful conversation pieces. If your wall art is just collecting dust and spotlighting your decor, maybe it’s time for a change?

Grateful Friday: Breakthrough!
Oct 03 2014“When there’s ever a breakthrough, a true breakthrough, you can go back and find a time period when the consensus was ‘well, that’s nonsense!’ so what that means is that a true creative researcher has to have confidence in nonsense.”~~Burt Rutan
