During spring break my family visited the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas’ Arts District for the David Bates Exhibition. David Bates is a Dallas based artist who has a great series of Hurricane Katrina paintings. I had hoped to catch a glimpse of one of the Katrina pieces but they were not a part of this exhibition. Most of the pieces were on loan from private collections. My daughter is mimicking David Bates’ signature style of only showing one hand with four fingers and one ear in his self-portraits. I will be visiting more museums this year and posting the pics here, so check back often.
Spring Break week has come to an end…Tear! We had an awesome break. We did lots of spring cleaning and gardening. We also visited many Dallas attractions. It was a great family bonding week. What did you guys do for Spring Break? If your break is coming soon, what do you have planned?
One of my New Year’s Resolutions this year is to draw/sketch everyday. Artists/Illustrators follow this practice to keep ideas flowing and to constantly develop their technique. I started January 1st and have seen a vast improvement in my personal technique/style.
